Advancing Sustainability through Collaborative Media Initiatives
HSSB 1224
Campus-wide sustainability campaigns are most effective when students, faculty, and administrators are stakeholders in the entire process. Through interactive media, specifically video and websites that are developed and promoted by all constituents, initiatives can reach a targeted audience with greater success. These collaborations benefit from greater manpower and resources that can lead to stronger connections with the campus community that would otherwise be difficult to obtain.

Students Taking on Big Projects: A Guide to Overcoming Inefficiency
McCune Conference Room
With Stanford's outdoor lighting project as an example, the presentation is a step-by-step guide for new interns or people interested in starting new projects. It uses the way the outdoor lighting project has been conducted by the interns at Stanford (e.g. all the liaison work, emailing relevant sustainability people in various departments, meeting face-to-face with these people, and composing proposals and surveys) to demonstrate the basic format for taking on new large projects. The basic theme: all you need is a plan and persistence!
Speakers:
- Katherine Heflin, Green Campus Intern, PR Specialist, American Studies, Student, Stanford University
