Principles of Behavior Design (11:00am-12:00pm)
Santa Barbara Harbor Room, University Center
The secret to moving the needle on healthy behaviors is to leverage the innate tendency of people to create habits. Based on the work of Stanford researcher BJ Fogg, this seminar will introduce a powerful way of understanding behaviors and as well as the key levers to use for successful behavior design.
You will come away with three crucial skills: (1) Being able to identify behaviors that have the best chance of succeeding. (2) Understanding the power of well-chosen triggers. (3) Learning how to create long-term success from the tiniest of habits.
Achieving Real-life Behavior Change (12:30pm-2:00pm)
State Street Room, University Center
In this second seminar, we will employ the behavior design principles discussed in the first hour on the real-life challenges defined by each of the Healthy Campus Network teams. Teams will learn how to (1) leverage their group’s creativity to design end-user focused solutions, (2) refine those ideas down to concrete, “actionable” behaviors, and (3) iterate and expand on those key behaviors for programmatic successes. By the end of this highly interactive hour, participants will walk away understanding how to turn a group vision into successful actions.
