Energy Upgrade Roadshow: Join emPowerSBC during your lunch break next Thursday, November 8th (11:00am – 2:00pm) at the Arbor/Davidson Library plaza and tour a dynamic mobile display that showcases exhibits on energy efficency for the home. You will learn about exciting new technologies, generous utility rebates, and low interest financing options.

Panel: Santa Barbara Geography – Past, Present, and as Sea Levels Rise: Speakers will discuss sea level rise in the Santa Barbara area. What do projections indicate for the likely rate at which ocean levels will rise? What will the potential effects be, and what measures are already being considered for managing the increased pressure on our coastlines? The event will be on Friday, November 9th (1:00-4:00pm) at Bren Hall 1414.

Film Screening: The Island President: The Island President is a documentary about how the first president of the Maldives battled to save his country from the threat of inundation due to sea level rise. Unless dramatic changes are made by the larger countries of the world, the Maldives, like a modern Atlantis, will disappear under the waves. The event is on Tuesday, December 4th (7:00pm) at the Pollock Theater. FREE screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker, Jon Shenk and a reception. Please make reservations here.
