ELF partners with the La Cuesta Continuation School to integrate sustainability and awareness of college and career pathways into the biology curriculum. La Cuesta is a credit recovery program which helps students that for reasons of life circumstances, behavioral problems, or their learning style are behind in their course credits.
Our curriculum supplements the State of California’s Standards for Biology courses with sustainability education, studies skills, college knowledge, and green academic and career pathways.
The sustainability portion of our curriculum is grounded in a core set of foundational concepts essential to understanding of sustainability, these include pollution prevention, ecosystem limits, systems thinking, cradle to cradle, and biomimicry. Within each term, the core modules vary based on the which portion of the state standards the biology professor is focusing on, however the core concepts remain the same.
