Current Projects

The Get Oil Out is an all volunteer organization that formed in the wake of the Santa Barbara Oil Spill of 1969. The organization has dedicated over 40 years to curbing oil pollution and oil addiction in order to protect California from further oil development and exploitation. Recently, Get Oil Out staff have worked on compiling a report on oil consumption and decreasing oil dependence. This summer, the Coastal Stewardship and Policy Program is partnering with GOO to assist in the compilation of the report and educate and engage the greater campus community. Our intern will assist with compilation of existing research, conduct independent policy research regarding Santa Barbara County policies, and engage students and Isla Vista residents in the issue.
